TerryWhite Chemmart Garran is a busy hospital-adjacent community pharmacy located within the Canberra Hospital precinct. We’re looking for a highly organised, detail-focused Dispensary Technician / Admin Assistant to join our team.
This is an admin-focused, dispensary-based role — you’ll be working primarily behind the scenes in the dispensary, with a strong focus on accurate documentation and administrative processes rather than front-of-shop retail duties. This role will require travel to clinics near the hospital approximately once to twice a week.
About the role
This role suits someone who takes genuine pride in accuracy and organisation. You’ll be trusted with detailed record-keeping and administrative processes that directly support patient care. Day to day you will:
Administration & Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs and registers for specialist clinic programs — recording batch numbers, expiry dates, quantities, and patient details with precision
- Reconcile stock records regularly to identify and flag any discrepancies
- Keep structured stock-in/stock-out documentation for specific programs in line with set procedures
- Manage filing, correspondence, and documentation to support audits and compliance checks
- Complete daily administrative tasks such as float checks and temperature log recording for sensitive stock
Dispensary Support
- Process and prepare prescriptions accurately under pharmacist supervision
- Operate dispensary software for prescription processing, ordering, and stock management
- Manage dispensary stock — ordering, shelving, short-dated stock checks, and returns
Day-to-Day Operations
- Support opening/closing procedures
- Keep the dispensary clean, organised, and compliant with quality care standards
- Travel to clinics near the hospital approximately once to twice weekly to support clinic-related tasks
What we’re looking for
- Previous dispensary technician, pharmacy assistant, or administrative experience (essential)
- Excellent attention to detail — comfortable with precise, methodical record-keeping where small errors matter
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing logs/registers accurately
- Comfortable with dispensary software and general admin systems
- A team player with great communication skills
- Current driver’s licence and access to a car — essential, as this role requires travel to clinics near the hospital once to twice weekly
- Certificate III/IV in Community Pharmacy (desirable but not essential — training provided)
What we offer
- Pay rate: $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience
- Full-time hours with a stable, regular roster
- A role where your accuracy and reliability are genuinely valued, not just expected
- Supportive, experienced pharmacist team
- A genuinely friendly workplace
- Free on-site parking
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
Benefits:
