- FELIX TWO PTY LTD operates a lounge style cafe in Surry Hills, close to Sydney CBD.
- The business provides coffee, beverages and food across breakfast, lunch and selected dinner service periods.
- We are seeking a skilled and reliable full-time Chef to support consistent food preparation, cooking standards, kitchen coordination and food safety compliance in a busy cafe and restaurant environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and coordinate daily food preparation and cooking activities for breakfast, lunch and selected dinner service periods.
- Prepare, cook, season and present cafe-style meals, specials and made-to-order dishes in accordance with Felix Two recipes, plating standards and service timeframes.
- Contribute to menu planning and practical menu updates, including menu items, specials, portion standards, ingredient use and estimated food and labour costs.
- Check the quality, freshness, temperature, portioning and presentation of dishes during preparation, cooking and service.
- Estimate food and kitchen supply requirements, assist with ordering, receive deliveries, check stock quality, rotate ingredients and maintain basic stock control records.
- Manage mise en place, preparation lists, section priorities and kitchen workflow so that food is prepared and served in a timely and consistent manner.
- Coordinate cooks and kitchen support staff during preparation and service, including task allocation and quality checks.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, allergen management, cleaning and workplace health and safety standards.
- Work with front-of-house staff to manage dietary requests, service timing, order priorities and communication between the kitchen and service areas.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Relevant commercial cookery, kitchen management or hospitality qualification (AQF Certificate IV or higher, or equivalent).
- At least two years of relevant experience as a Chef, preferably in a cafe, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, stock rotation, allergen awareness, kitchen equipment use and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to organise daily preparation, maintain consistent dish quality, prioritise tasks and work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
- Good communication, reliability, teamwork and attention to detail.
