This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2026.
Duncraig Primary is an independent public school, located in the northern suburbs, 18 kilometres from Perth city. Established in 1973, Duncraig Primary School became an independent public school in 2011. The school has an enrolment of approximately 450 students, catering for children from kindergarten to Year 6.
Our school grounds are extensive, with a large oval, several playgrounds, a unique nature play area and a well-resourced kitchen garden. The school is fully air-conditioned, and our facilities include a library, science, visual art and music rooms and two undercover areas. The specialist programs offered to our students include music, French, visual art, science and physical education. The school also offers selected students the opportunity to participate in the Department of Education Primary Extension and Challenge program (PEAC) and instrumental music tuition in guitar, wind and brass. Other school-based programs include swimming, dance, interschool team sports, athletics and choir.

The Role
Join our team as a Gardener - Handyperson and contribute to fostering a positive learning environment. As a key member of the staff, you'll be instrumental in maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to a positive environment for both students and staff. From overseeing the turf areas, garden beds and shrubs to managing hard landscaping features like courts and paving, you'll play a vital role in creating an inviting and inspiring outdoor space.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, thrives when working independently and enjoys maintaining and improving outdoor and indoor spaces. The successful applicant will be required to perform general gardening duties, identify and complete jobs proactively and competently, perform minor maintenance/repair and handyperson tasks in accordance with the Department of Education’s policies and guidelines.
The successful applicant should display effective communication skills, be well-organised, self-motivated and reliable with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with staff and external contractors.
