Westley Garden is a residential care provider located in Ferntree Gully, Victoria. Our team works closely with families, healthcare professionals and community service providers to respond to each resident’s individual needs.
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Residential Care Officer to provide practical, emotional and behavioural support to our residents. The successful candidate will assist with the implementation of individual care plans, monitor residents’ wellbeing, recommend appropriate social and community services, and collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to support positive outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess residents’ needs and planning support programs. Provide care and support for residents, in line with each resident’s care plan. Monitor, support, and encourage the emotional and behavioural wellbeing of residents. Supervise and coordinate the work of Personal Support Workers (PSWs) as needed. Ensure adherence to behaviour management protocols and safety procedures. Liaise with medical practitioners, allied health professionals, family members, support coordinators, and community organisations to facilitate holistic care. Advocate for residents’ rights, preferences, and overall wellbeing across all aspects of service delivery. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including care notes, incident reports, and progress records. Promote resident independence, autonomy, and dignity in daily activities and care interactions. Arrange and recommend additional social services or programs that enhance residents’ social participation and life skills. Comply with all organisational policies, procedures, and duty-of-care obligations.
Required Experience and Skills
- At least 1 year of experience working as a residential care officer. A Diploma or degree in health or other related care and support fields. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and adherence to confidentiality guidelines.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
