Join a Team That Makes a Genuine Difference
At KOOKI Kommunity, we believe every person deserves to live a life of dignity, choice, and opportunity.
As a registered NDIS provider, we specialise in delivering high-quality supports to people with complex disabilities. We work alongside participants, families, Behaviour Support Practitioners, and allied health professionals to deliver evidence-based, person-centred supports that improve quality of life and promote long-term independence.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Therapeutic Support Worker who is passionate about supporting participants with complex behavioural support needs and personal care requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in challenging environments, leads by example, and is committed to delivering exceptional support.
About the Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to participants with varying and often complex support needs, including behaviours of concern, psychosocial disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and high personal care requirements.
You will play an integral role in implementing Behaviour Support Plans, responding to challenging situations using Positive Behaviour Support principles, delivering respectful personal care, and mentoring less experienced staff to promote best practice across the organisation.
Every day presents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
Your Responsibilities
You will:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred supports that promote independence, choice, and community participation.
- Support participants presenting with complex behaviours of concern using therapeutic, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches.
- Implement Behaviour Support Plans in collaboration with Behaviour Support Practitioners and allied health professionals.
- Recognise behavioural triggers and early warning signs, using proactive strategies to prevent escalation wherever possible.
- Respond safely and professionally to incidents while maintaining the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of participants.
- Provide respectful and dignified personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, mobility assistance, transfers, and mealtime support where required.
- Support participants to achieve their NDIS goals through capacity building and skill development.
- Complete accurate progress notes, incident reports, and required documentation.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, guardians, therapists, support coordinators, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor and support junior support workers through coaching, leadership, and modelling best practice.
- Maintain compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct, organisational policies, and all relevant legislation.
About You
We're looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting people with disability.
You remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and understand that behaviour is a form of communication. You enjoy working collaboratively while maintaining the confidence to make sound decisions independently.
Most importantly, you are committed to delivering supports that uphold each participant's dignity, safety, rights, and quality of life.
Essential Requirements
To be successful, you will have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience supporting people with disability.
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex behaviours of concern.
