PAD Civil is fast-growing plumbing and drainage company based in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs. With strong momentum and involvement in major infrastructure projects around Victoria – including Victoria's Big Build, we are expanding our team and now seeking experienced Construction Estimator to lead our tendering process. We are committed to delivering high-quality builds and are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team with strong understanding of general construction including exposure to building services estimating including hydraulic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting and analysing drawings, specifications, tender documentation, building regulations, and codes of practice for civil, drainage, and hydraulic systems.
- Preparing accurate quantity take-offs and construction timeframes for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontract works to support management planning, organising, and scheduling.
- Preparing cost estimate, tender submission and expenditure statements and other necessary bid documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, project personnel, and construction supervisor/foremen to obtain pricing, formulate estimates, and resolve project issues.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, contractors, subcontractors, Directors, and Project Managers on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and project requirements.
- Monitoring project costs, assessing cost effectiveness, tracking costs against bids, and identifying cost-saving opportunities during project delivery.
- Attend pre and post tender meetings as required.
- Setting up and maintaining cost monitoring, reporting systems, and estimating databases throughout project delivery.
- Conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in Civil Construction, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience as a Construction Estimator with knowledge of building, civil infrastructure, drainage and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations to fire, sewer, water systems, pump stations, tanks, drainage, earthworks, and roadworks. Familiarity with local construction standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in basic estimating software (e.g. Excel, Bluebeam) is essential.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance competitiveness and profitability.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
