Chromatic Applications is a locally owned and operated painting business servicing South East Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba. We provide high-quality residential, commercial, industrial and body corporate painting services and are committed to reliability, customer satisfaction, strong workmanship and attention to detail.
We are seeking an experienced Painter to join our team and support the delivery of professional painting projects across residential and commercial sites.The successful applicant will perform painting and decorating duties, including preparing surfaces, applying paints and finishes, protecting work areas, maintaining equipment and completing work to a high professional standard.
Key duties and responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Erecting ladders and mobile scaffolding, and placing drop sheets and protective coverings to protect adjacent surfaces from paint splatter and damage
- Preparing surfaces by removing old paint, loose coatings and wallpaper, repairing minor defects, filling holes and cracks, sanding, smoothing and sealing surfaces prior to painting
- Selecting, preparing and mixing paints, stains, varnishes and other finishes to required colours, textures and specifications
- Applying paints, varnishes, stains, sealers and other protective/decorative finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
- Painting and finishing internal and external surfaces on residential, commercial, industrial and body corporate projects
- Hanging wallpaper or wall coverings where required, including matching patterns and trimming edges
- Cleaning painting tools, spray equipment, work areas and project sites at completion of works
- Identifying surface defects and advising supervisors of preparation or repair requirements before application of finishes
- Carrying out minor repairs associated with painting preparation, including patching, sealing and basic woodwork preparation where required
- Reading job instructions, colour schedules, work orders and product specifications to complete work to client and project requirements
- Working safely in accordance with WHS procedures, including safe handling of paints, solvents, ladders, scaffolding and site equipment
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, presentation and customer service in line with Chromatic Applications’ commitment to quality and reliability
Skills and experience required
To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
- Relevant trade qualification desirable, but not essential
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Painter
- Experience in residential and/or commercial painting projects
- Ability to prepare surfaces and apply paint systems to a professional standard
- Experience using brushes, rollers and spray-painting equipment
- Ability to work safely from ladders and mobile scaffolding
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently and contribute as part of a team
- Current driver licence and reliable transport preferred
- Construction White Card preferred or required, depending on project sites
Pay: $78,000.00 – $88,000.00 per year
