About the Role
Canterbury College is seeking a Student Engagement Officer (Senior School) to play a key role in shaping the daily experience of students across Years 7 to 12.
This is a highly visible position within the Senior School, centred on student presence, engagement and consistent follow-through of expectations. Working closely with Assistant Heads of Senior School and Heads of House, the role supports a school environment where expectations are clear, applied consistently and reinforced through strong professional relationships.
The position combines oversight of attendance, student presentation and day-to-day conduct with a strong relational presence across the campus. It is well suited to someone who is confident working with young people, values consistency and is motivated to contribute to a positive and well-ordered school environment.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain a consistent presence across the Senior School, particularly during arrival, transitions and breaks

Monitor and follow up student attendance, including unexplained absences and late arrivals

Support expectations for student presentation, including uniform, grooming and overall appearance

Reinforce positive conduct and support smooth movement of students throughout the school day

Administer and track detention and follow-through processes using TASS

Work closely with Heads of House to identify and respond to patterns in student behaviour and engagement

Liaise with families where required regarding attendance and presentation matters

Support student conduct expectations on buses and in public settings

Contribute to a culture in which students take pride in their participation in College life
About You
You bring confidence in working with young people in a secondary school setting and the ability to build rapport quickly and respectfully.
You demonstrate a calm, consistent and professional approach to addressing day-to-day issues and apply expectations fairly and reliably.
You are highly organised, attentive to detail and dependable in ensuring strong follow-through.
Experience in a school or youth-focused environment will be highly regarded.
