The Role
The Senior Policy Officer role is in the Skilled and Business Migration Program (SBMP), in the Industry, Trade and Investment Group. The SBMP is responsible for the development and delivery of policies, strategies, programs and services relating to the attraction and retention of international talent to support the Victorian Government's economic development and labour market objectives. Programs include State Nominated Visa programs and coordination of the National Innovation Visa program.
The Senior Policy Officer role plays a lead role in developing contemporary policy and delivering strategic projects relating to international talent attraction through migration. This includes leading whole of Victorian Government consultation and preparation of complex submissions and reports for ministers into reviews, inquiries and skilled migration policy including for advocacy; leading consultations with industry and government stakeholders on skilled migration policy; and leading policy and program design, development and evaluation, governance and risk management.

The Team
The position of Senior Policy Officer forms a part of the Trade, Global Engagement, International Education and Migration branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. ITI harnesses specialist knowledge of key industries and global markets to develop Victoria's priority sectors, boost trade activities, enhance productivity and contribute to economic growth.
