The City of Salisbury is seeking a motivated and innovative Data Platform Administrator to join the Technology Infrastructure Solutions team within Corporate Development. Reporting to the Team Leader Technology Infrastructure Solutions, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a secure, scalable and modern enterprise data platform. Leveraging Azure data technologies and Databricks, you will deliver integrated data solutions, custom reporting capabilities and advanced data discovery services that enable informed decision-making across the organisation.
You will play a key role in consolidating data from current and legacy business systems, transforming complex datasets into trusted, report-ready information assets and supporting strategic initiatives through innovative analytics solutions.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Lead the design, implementation and ongoing management of the organisation's Azure-based enterprise data platform, including data lake and analytics environments, ensuring scalability, performance and reliability.

Develop and maintain Azure Data Services and Databricks solutions for data ingestion, transformation, optimisation and analytics from diverse enterprise systems and applications.

Configure, monitor and optimise data lake infrastructure and associated data pipelines.

Design and implement data integration solutions across multiple business systems, including legacy and historical platforms, ensuring data consistency, accessibility and long-term value.

Develop and maintain enterprise metadata repositories, data catalogues and lineage solutions to improve data discoverability, governance and user adoption.

Create custom reporting, dashboards, data discovery tools and self-service analytics solutions that enable stakeholders to efficiently access, interrogate and interpret organisational data.

Monitor, maintain and improve platform performance, reliability, security and operational efficiency.

Manage data governance and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to organisational standards and best practices for data quality, security and integrity.

Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand information requirements, deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions and drive continuous improvement across the enterprise data ecosystem.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
About you:
You are a proactive and technically skilled data professional who is passionate about cloud-based data platforms, analytics and data engineering. You enjoy solving complex data challenges, transforming information into meaningful insights and working collaboratively with stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
You will also have:

Demonstrated experience designing and administering enterprise data platforms within Microsoft Azure environments.

Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric or related Azure data technologies.

Experience developing and supporting Databricks solutions for large-scale data processing, transformation and analytics.

Proven capability developing custom reporting, dashboards and data discovery solutions using enterprise reporting and BI tools.

Experience integrating data from multiple business systems, including legacy and historical datasets.

Experience implementing or supporting data governance, metadata management, data catalogues, lineage tracking and Power BI governance frameworks.

Strong SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT and data engineering skills.

Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy and compliance frameworks.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A passion for leveraging data to improve organisational performance and decision-making.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline.
