About the program
At Lockheed Martin Australia, we believe that when people are empowered, inspired, and AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
We are seeking a highly capable
Sustainment Engineer – ILS and Support services, to support the AIR6500 Program. This role acts as the key interface between the Support System Manager (SSM) and the Operational Continuity Integrated Product Team (IPT), providing subject matter expertise in Support System development, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and sustainment engineering activities.
You will play a critical role in ensuring support system requirements are effectively developed, managed, and integrated into support solutions that enable long-term operational capability.
Your day-to-day work will involve:

Provide sustainment engineering expertise to ensure the ongoing operational effectiveness, availability, and supportability of AIR6500 capability.

Develop and maintain Support System documentation, plans, and reports in accordance with ASDEFCON requirements and project objectives.

Conduct sustainment and supportability assessments to identify risks, opportunities, and improvements across the capability lifecycle.

Perform Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities to support capability readiness and operational continuity.

Analyse Support System requirements and assess the impact of design changes on sustainment, maintenance, training, supply support, and support infrastructure.

Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Operations, and Product Teams to ensure sustainment requirements are integrated into system design and development activities.

Support the development of maintenance concepts, support strategies, and lifecycle management plans.

Monitor sustainment performance metrics and provide recommendations to improve system availability, reliability, maintainability, and supportability.

Identify and manage sustainment risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the capability lifecycle.

Prepare and deliver sustainment-related briefings, reports, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to operational readiness activities by ensuring support solutions meet current and future capability requirements.

Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sustainment outcomes and optimise whole-of-life support costs.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:-
Demonstrated experience in:

Asset Management or Sustainment Engineering

Strong understanding of Support System development and lifecycle sustainment principles.

Experience working within complex engineering, Defence, or capability acquisition environments.

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and reporting skills.

Strong knowledge of ASDEFCON requirements/processes or experience working within an Integrated Logistics Analysis (ILA) environment is highly desirable
