This is your opportunity to play a meaningful role in supporting Defence personnel by delivering fresh, high-quality meals across breakfast, lunch and dinner services in a structured and professional kitchen environment.
About the role
As a Chef de Partie, you will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality meal services to Defence personnel. This includes preparing and presenting meals for standard dining, field operations, and in-flight requirements.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and in line with food safety standards, while contributing to a positive and inclusive team environment.
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing, cooking and presenting meals to a consistent, high standard

Supporting the supervision of Kitchen Hands and Utilities staff

Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and compliance records

Operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively
-
Assisting with large-scale catering and emergency meal services when required

Contributing to a clean, organised and efficient kitchen

Hourly rate: $37.14 + penalties (allowances included)

Rotating roster across weekdays, weekends and public holidays

Ventia have been awarded a 6-year Defence Base Services contract with opportunity for further extension

About you
-
You are a motivated and team-oriented Chef with strong experience in high-volume catering environments.

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher)

HACCP Level 2 certification
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in large commercial kitchens

Flexible and adaptive in complex, multi-stakeholder settings
-
Strong planning and organisational abilities
-
Professional, enthusiastic, and aligned with Ventia’s values
Must be eligible to hold a Defence baseline security clearance. As a result of this requirement, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
