Position Summary
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supporting the Executive Housekeeping Manager in the day-to-day management of the housekeeping department. This role ensures guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest cleanliness and presentation standards while achieving productivity targets, quality standards, and budget requirements.
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager leads housekeeping supervisors and attendants, promotes a positive workplace culture, and ensures compliance with company policies, hotel brand standards, and workplace health and safety legislation.
Key Requirements & Responsibilities
- Must be available 5 days per week with flexible availability, including weekends.
- Work approximately 3 days as a Housekeeping Supervisor and step up to perform Manager duties on weekends as required.
- Assist with daily allocation, staff supervision, room inspections and housekeeping operations.
- Ensure rooms and public areas meet hotel cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Support and coordinate the housekeeping team to achieve daily productivity targets.
- Communicate effectively with Front Office and hotel management.
- Handle operational issues and provide leadership when stepping up as Manager.
- Assist with staff training, performance and day-to-day management.
Experience and skills Required
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in a step-up, housekeeping coordinator, supervisor, assistant manager or similar housekeeping management role.
- Previous hotel housekeeping experience is essential.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Must be hands-on, reliable, flexible and able to work independently.
- Previous experience in hotel housekeeping.
- Experience supervising or leading a housekeeping team.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of hotel housekeeping procedures.
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Pay: $28.00 – $60.00 per hour
