About the Mint
The Royal Australian Mint is a small government agency working within the Commonwealth Government Portfolio of the Treasury. The Mint is a non-corporate Commonwealth Entity and is listed under the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act). About the Role
As a member of the Mint’s Senior Executive, and trusted adviser to the CEO, the COO provides strategic direction and enterprise-wide oversight across people, ICT, finance, procurement, facilities, and business enabling functions. This role ensures that the Mint meets its statutory obligations, operates with integrity and transparency, and is positioned for sustainable, future-focused success.
You will be a dynamic and forward-thinking leader with a strong track record in Senior Executive roles. With deep experience in organisational governance, organisational strategy, workforce culture, change leadership, and delivering enabling services, you will bring energy, innovation and influence to a diverse and high-performing team. You’ll exemplify the APS values and foster a collaborative and ethical workplace culture that champions achievement, inclusion and trust.
The COO brings, strong people leadership, exemplary communication skills and a deep understanding of government and corporate frameworks, to support the Mint to achieve its strategic objectives.
The Duties
Key responsibilities of this position will include:
- Provide expert governance and corporate advice and strategic input to the CEO and the Mint’s Executive Board.
- Develop and implement strategic ‘whole of Mint’ corporate frameworks that enable the Mint to achieve its objectives and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Leverage and integrate corporate services functions to drive performance and operational excellence.
- Lead enterprise-wide risk management and embed a positive risk culture.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory obligations, and Commonwealth frameworks.
- Oversee all Corporate Services functions, including facilities, human resources, ICT, security and finance. Other functions may be included as the Mint establishes its Executive Board.
- Build and sustain a values-driven, high-performance workforce culture that reflects APS and Mint values.
- Represent the Mint with credibility, integrity, and influence in interactions with stakeholders, government, and external partners.
Qualification
Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in business, public administration, finance or a related discipline is desirable.
Security
This position requires a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtainand maintain a clearance at this level..
