At Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD), we are committed to Trusted Care, Better Health for Everyone, and we are seeking an experienced Medical Physics Specialist to join our Radiation Oncology team and contribute to the delivery of innovative, precise and patient-focused cancer treatment.
About the Opportunity
As a Medical Physics Specialist, you will provide specialist medical physics services supporting external beam radiation therapy, working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, radiation therapists and the broader multidisciplinary team.
You will play an important role in ensuring the safety, accuracy and quality of radiation oncology treatment. In this role you will:
- Provide specialist expertise in radiation dosimetry, treatment planning and radiation safety.
- Participate in the commissioning, calibration and quality assurance of radiation oncology equipment and software.
- Undertake treatment plan checking, patient-specific QA and in-vivo dosimetry.
- Contribute to the implementation of new treatment techniques, technologies and clinical trials.
- Support research, quality improvement, education and training across the radiation oncology team.
- Provide expert advice to support safe and effective patient treatment.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of radiation oncology services while working within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- A postgraduate degree in physics or engineering from an ACPSEM-recognised institution, or considerable progress towards a PhD in a medical physics-related field.
- ACPSEM accreditation in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics or Radiotherapy Equipment Commissioning and Quality Assurance, or successful completion of the TEAP written examination with an expectation of certification within six months.
- Demonstrated experience in radiation dosimetry, radiotherapy equipment QA, treatment planning, equipment commissioning and radiation safety.
- Experience contributing to research, quality improvement and the implementation of new treatment techniques.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Flexibility to work after-hours when required.
