About the Business
PhoneCycle Pty Ltd is a company that operates within the electronics, recommerce and eCommerce sectors, specialising in the acquisition, refurbishment and resale of pre-owned mobile phones, tablets, laptops and other electronic devices. PhoneCycle works with businesses to manage device assessment, grading, refurbishment, inventory management, deployment and buyback.
About the Role:
PhoneCycle is seeking a full-time Data Analyst (eCommerce) to support its multi-channel retail and operational data environment. The position will collect, process, analyse and interpret sales, inventory, pricing, customer and operational data across PhoneCycle’s Shopify store, third-party marketplaces, warehouse systems and internal business systems.
The role will focus on maintaining reliable data, identifying trends and patterns, monitoring product and inventory performance, developing dashboards and analytical models, and providing data-driven insights to support pricing, purchasing, inventory, operational and eCommerce decisions.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain processes to securely collect, consolidate, store and process data from PhoneCycle’s Shopify store, and affiliate eCommerce platforms, warehouse systems and other internal data sources, including the development and maintenance of data flows, system connectors and automated reporting processes.
- Validate, reconcile and evaluate the accuracy and reliability of business data by identifying discrepancies, incomplete records and inconsistencies across sales, product listings, pricing, physical inventory, device grading, stock movement and other operational datasets.
- Analyse and interpret sales, transaction and product data to identify trends and patterns relating to product demand, brand, model, storage capacity, device condition, selling price, conversion, margins and marketplace performance, and respond to data-related queries raised by management and business teams.
- Analyse inventory and operational data across the full device lifecycle, including intake, grading, refurbishment, stock allocation and outbound fulfilment, to identify processing trends, stock turnover, slow- and fast-moving products and operational issues affecting inventory performance.
- Conduct comparative and predictive analysis of product pricing, inventory and marketplace performance, including competitor activity and historical sales patterns, to identify pricing opportunities, forecast stock risks and support purchasing, clearance, refurbishment and inventory allocation decisions.
- Apply data analytics and visualisation techniques to develop and maintain dashboards, reports and performance indicators using Power BI, Excel, Google Analytics, Shopify reporting tools and marketplace analytics platforms, providing clear visibility of sales, revenue, margins, stock flow, sell-through rates, returns and other business performance measures.
- Analyse the effectiveness of pricing changes, product listings, promotions and marketplace campaigns by comparing historical and current performance data and measuring their impact on sales, conversion rates, margins, inventory movement and overall channel performance.
- Develop and maintain analytical models and automated data processes, including the use of Python scripts, business rules and other analytical techniques to process complex datasets, identify slow-moving or obsolete stock, reduce manual reporting and improve the accuracy and efficiency of business analysis.
- Implement and follow appropriate data management and governance processes to maintain data integrity, security, consistency and appropriate use across PhoneCycle’s reporting environment, including maintaining data definitions, reporting methodologies and controlled access to business information.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc analytical reports, dashboards and presentations for management and relevant stakeholders, communicating key findings, trends, risks and opportunities and providing evidence-based recommendations to support strategic decisions relating to pricing, purchasing, inventory, marketplace performance, operations and business growth.
Qualifications and Work Experience Required:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree is highly regarded.
- At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business analytics, eCommerce analytics, or a similar role.
