We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Disability Support Worker - Greek Speaking preferred to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a professional who has extensive experience supporting people with complex disability support needs and behaviours of concern within home and family environments.
As a Senior Disability Support Worker, you will provide direct support to participants while mentoring support staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and promoting best-practice, person-centred support approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to NDIS participants with complex support needs.
- Support participants with daily living activities, personal care, community access, and skill development.
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) and individual support strategies.
- Effectively respond to and manage behaviours of concern using proactive and least restrictive approaches.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, guardians, and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with Behaviour Support Practitioners, Support Coordinators, and allied health professionals.
- Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports, and documentation.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to junior support workers.
- Promote participant choice, independence, dignity, and community inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, organisational policies, and safeguarding requirements. Experience with behaviour support plans and working collaboratively with families is highly valued in senior disability support roles.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in disability support services.
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with:
- Behaviours of concern
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Intellectual disabilities
- Mental health conditions
- Complex support needs
- Experience working within family homes and maintaining professional relationships with families and carers.
- Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practice.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (where applicable).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Full working rights in Australia.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or related field.
- Diploma or higher qualification in Disability, Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Experience mentoring and supervising support workers.
- Medication administration competency.
