Job Description
We are currently seeking a Cost Controller to join the team delivering an inspirational sports and entertainment legacy across Queensland.
AECOM has been appointed by the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) as the Delivery Partner for the $7.1bn Games Venues Infrastructure Program.
This achievement is celebrated with our joint venture partner Laing O’Rourke, a strategic team formed to support the delivery of 17 new and upgrades sport, recreation, and entertainment venues across Queensland for 2032 and beyond.

As a Cost Controller at AECOM, you will play a critical role in managing project costs, ensuring financial transparency, and supporting the project management team in making informed decisions.

Develop and maintain project cost control systems, including budgets, forecasts, and reports.

Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to budgetary limits.

Analyse cost variances, identify trends, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Collaborate with project managers and engineers to assess project performance and financial health.

Prepare regular cost reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Assist in the preparation of change orders and claims, ensuring proper documentation and justification.

Conduct periodic audits and reviews of project costs and financial processes.

Support project teams in understanding financial metrics and implications on project delivery.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience in cost control, financial analysis, or project management within the construction or engineering industry.

Proven track record of managing project budgets and cost forecasting.
Skills and Competencies

Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Proficient in cost management software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
