As our project pipeline continues to grow across Sydney, we're looking for an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team and lead the tendering process on civil infrastructure projects.
The Role
Reporting to senior management, you'll take ownership of the estimating function for tenders ranging from small works through to major civil, road, rail and utilities infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with our operations, plant and procurement teams to build accurate, competitive tenders and help shape the projects we win.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, road, rail and utilities infrastructure tenders from concept through to submission
- Analyse tender documentation, drawings and specifications to scope works and identify risks and opportunities
- Source and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
- Develop pricing for labour, plant, materials and haulage, drawing on our in-house fleet and recycling capabilities
- Prepare programs, method statements and value-engineering input to strengthen tender submissions
- Liaise with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders during the tender period
- Manage the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems
What We're Looking For
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Substantial experience as an Estimator within civil construction, roadworks, rail or utilities infrastructure
- Strong understanding of construction methods, plant, materials and subcontractor markets
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel; ability to read and interpret civil drawings
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills
- Proven track record winning competitively tendered civil infrastructure work
- Current driver's licence
