Cook / Kitchen Team Member – YAKITORI 38
YAKITORI 38 is a busy Japanese izakaya in Canberra, serving a wide range of Japanese dishes including charcoal-grilled skewers, sashimi, sushi, small plates and other izakaya favourites.
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cook / Kitchen Team Member to join our growing team.
Our kitchen is fast-paced and team-focused. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently under pressure, maintain consistent food quality, and is willing to help across all areas of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Food preparation and service during busy dinner periods
- Cooking and plating dishes according to company standards
- Preparing ingredients for daily service
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen
- Dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning when required
- Receiving and storing deliveries
- Assisting with stock rotation, storage and food safety procedures
- Supporting other kitchen team members during service
- Performing all reasonable kitchen duties as directed by management
Requirements
- Previous kitchen experience preferred
- Experience in Japanese cuisine is an advantage, but not essential
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- High standards of cleanliness and personal presentation
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Must be comfortable working late shifts
- Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing manual kitchen tasks
