About the Role
The Active Transport Officer plays a key role in encouraging more sustainable travel choices across the City through the promotion of walking, cycling and public transport. Working closely with teams across planning, operations, sustainability and public health, you will lead the delivery of the City’s Bicycle Plan and travel behaviour change initiatives that support a reduction in private car use. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the development and implementation of the City’s Bike Network Plan
- Delivering programs that promote sustainable transport options for employees, residents and local businesses
- Supporting community engagement initiatives such as Your Move Schools, Walking School Bus and Your Move Workplace programs
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve outcomes aligned with the Enhanced Environment Strategy, Public Health Plan and Place Plans
- Preparing reports and recommendations to support active transport initiatives and outcomes
What we’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Travel Demand Management principles, including Your Move programs and behaviour change initiatives
- Considerable working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to traffic, cycling and pedestrian planning
- Experience preparing reports, submissions and strategic documentation
- Demonstrated experience identifying, developing and delivering community programs that encourage and promote behaviour change
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across a range of disciplines
- Relevant qualifications and/or considerable experience in transport planning, travel behaviour change or a related field
