The opportunity
We currently have two exciting opportunities available for Parking and Local Laws Officers to join our Community Safety and Compliance team. As a vital frontline role, you will support community safety, accessibility and amenity across the municipality through parking enforcement, local laws compliance, investigations, community education and animal management support. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, you'll help deliver key compliance outcomes, respond to community concerns and contribute to a safe, accessible and well-maintained municipality. These positions play an important role in ensuring Council meets its legislative obligations while maintaining a visible and responsive compliance presence across the community.
What you’ll do
- Conduct parking patrols, investigate offences and issue infringements in line with legislation and road rules.
- Investigate local laws matters including abandoned vehicles, illegal dumping, unsightly land and roadside trading issues.
- Educate residents, businesses and motorists to encourage voluntary compliance before enforcement action.
- Gather evidence and maintain accurate records, case notes, reports and enforcement documentation.
- Support community safety and amenity outcomes through compliance activities and limited animal management support when required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations, Statutory Compliance or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in regulatory compliance, enforcement, investigations or customer service environments.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, Local Laws, policies and procedures.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage conflict and build positive community relationships.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and utilise compliance technology and record systems effectively.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License.
