Primary objective
Manage and maintain the Northern Territory's livestock identification, property registration and traceability systems through the accurate
administration of statutory registers, application of delegated Registrar functions, and provision of specialist advice to industry,
stakeholders and government staff.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Administer and maintain the Northern Territory livestock identification, registration and traceability systems, ensuring the integrity,
accuracy, security and currency of statutory records and associated databases, including the NT Property Identification Code Property
Details Register and NT Brands Register.
2. Exercise delegated Registrar functions in accordance with the Livestock Act 2008, Regulations, departmental policies and business
rules, including assessing, validating and approving applications relating to property identification codes, brands and livestock
ownership registrations
3. Provide training, problem solving and user support services for staff and industry clients using the NT Brands Register, NT Property
Identification Code Property Details Register and Waybill databases throughout the Territory.
4. Develop, monitor and maintain the prescribed documentation, extension material and websites relating to livestock identification and
movement.
5. Prepare and maintain livestock movement statistics reports.
6. Function as the SharePoint based MAX Biosecurity Information Management System administrator.
7. Function as a member of the Livestock Biosecurity team to deliver outputs identified within the Livestock Biosecurity Business Plan.
8. Participate in biosecurity emergency response activities as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high levels of ability in database management and maintenance, word processing, spreadsheet and desktop publishing,
preferably with experience in web development and maintenance.
2. Proven ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with persons at all levels particularly in the pastoral industry and
within and outside of government and ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
3. Sound report writing skills with the ability to present technical information in a logical and meaningful manner.
4. Sound knowledge and experience with the use of SharePoint, in particular MAX Biosecurity Information Management System.
5. Proven ability to work independently, and as a member of a team, to achieve outcomes within tight deadlines in a busy work
environment, with high standards and attention to detail.
6. Demonstrated ability to show initiative, conceptualise ideas to address client needs, and research, analyse and solve problems.
Desirable
1. Proven knowledge of the relevant legislation, in particular the Livestock Act 2008 and Livestock Regulations.
2. A good knowledge of the pastoral industry in the Northern Territory.
3. Experience in the use of Integrated Land Information System (ILIS).
4. Knowledge of Northern Territory land tenure arrangements and associated governance structures.
