About the role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a food service assistant to join Victoria Police. This position is attached to ‘People Development' who are responsible for providing education, training and development for all employees of Victoria Police from initial training and throughout their career.
This role contributes to the delivery of large-scale catering services across two key sites- the Victorian Police Academy and Airlie Leadership Development Centre. As a Food Service Assistant, you will work as part of a team supporting commercial kitchen operations, with the Academy kitchen staffed by ten people and the Airlie kitchen by three.
The role involves assisting with preparing coffee (barista quality), customer service, operating dishwasher, maintain hygiene standards, ensuring meals are delivered efficiently and to a high standard. Your contribution supports broader objectives of the Command in providing a professional and well-managed catering service for staff and recruits.
The position requires flexibility with shifts required to be performed at two People Development food services areas (the Victorian Police Academy in Glen Waverley and Airlie in South Yarra). The position entails shift work Monday to Friday, with shifts usually commencing between 5.30am and 10.30am. Rostering will be provided in accordance with the applicable Enterprise Agreement.
The position will report to any of the four VPS3 Shift Supervisors (Chefs) or the VPS4 Catering Manager.

Unpacking deliveries and putting away
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Food Safety Certificate

Experience in high volume food service areas

Barista trained
-
experienced as a barista or kitchenhand (depending on role)

A genuine love of food and customers

Great customer service

Salary $62,104 - $79,793 plus superannuation (pro-rata for part time)

This position is located at Victoria Police Academy, 1 View Mount Road, Glen Waverley, with flexibility to work at Airlie Leadership Centre in South Yarra as required'
