Primary objective
The Senior Teacher is responsible for maximising student outcomes through the leadership and management of learning
interventions, individualised learning plans and student wellbeing programs to achieve optimal educational outcomes for all students
including those with a disability and special educational needs.
Context statement
Bradshaw Primary School provides education to approximately 450 students from Preschool to Year 6, 35% of whom are
Aboriginal. Key priorities include continuous improvement for students through research-based Response to Intervention
approaches including Alert and Read Write Inc; strengthened pedagogical practice; clear and coherent curriculum delivery;
increased data literacy for educators; embedding of the school’s Instructional Model; strong relationships and the impact of positive
learning environments on behavioural and academic outcomes for students through effective School Wide Positive Behaviour
Supports.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. In consultation with teachers and leadership team identify students requiring individualised educational adjustment plans.
2. Use quantitative and qualitative student data to collaborate with teachers on designing individualised educational adjustment
plans.
3. Support teachers in implementing individualised educational adjustment plans including ongoing monitoring of adjustments to
measure their effectiveness.
4. Liaise with external support agencies about students with additional needs to meet their educational outcomes.
5. Consult regularly with families to review student progress and supports as per individualised educational adjustment plans.
6. Collect and collate information on students’ needs, adjustments and record consultation with family in order to meet NCCD
reporting requirements.
7. As required, deliver learning or behaviour interventions for select students.
8. Undertake teaching load as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board and a current Ochre Card or the ability to obtain.
2. Proven ability to work within a cross cultural school environment, interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and
successfully develop effective partnerships with parents and the community.
3. Strong knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles of the Australian Curriculum and NCCD guidelines and principles.
Program to high quality teaching and learning practice and the demonstrated ability to apply differentiated practices and
principles in order to improve student wellbeing and academic outcomes.
4. Proven change management, team leadership, interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to apply negotiation and
conflict resolution skills brokering positive outcomes.
5. Demonstrated ability to promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community to improve student
academic outcomes through effective wellbeing strategies.
6. Demonstrated skills in human resource management and fiscal management as it relates to the management of a cohort of
students.
