The Coroners Court of Victoria is seeking an experienced and culturally grounded Aboriginal Family Engagement Manager to lead critical work supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families through the coronial investigation process.
In this senior leadership role, you will enhance the Court's cultural responsiveness, improve family experiences, and contribute to prevention and systemic change.
You will lead the Aboriginal Engagement team and provide expert cultural advice to coroners, ensuring investigations are respectful, informed, and culturally safe. This role is central to strengthening partnerships, improving practices, and driving better outcomes for communities.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead & develop a high-performing Aboriginal Engagement team, fostering wellbeing, capability, and collaboration
- Support families with culturally safe, needs-based bereavement care and clear guidance through the coronial process
- Advise coroners with expert cultural insight, including preparation of cultural briefings
- Drive practice excellence by developing and evaluating case management approaches
- Deliver high-quality reports with clear analysis, recommendations, and policy insights
- Strengthen prevention efforts through data analysis and cross-agency collaboration
- Champion cultural competency across CCOV, promoting inclusion and respectful engagement
- Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to advance equity and reform

You are a respected leader with deep cultural knowledge and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You bring:
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and issues
- Proven ability to engage sensitively and effectively with families and diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and influencing complex, sensitive environments
- Expertise in culturally safe practice, policy advice, and stakeholder engagement
- Exceptional communication skills, including report writing and conveying complex information with empathy
