About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Telfer. This role is responsible for providing maintenance engineering support and implementing reliability initiatives across site assets through sound, compliant, and value-driven engineering practices to improve asset reliability and availability.
We currently have two vacancies available: one supporting our Surface Fixed Plant operation and one supporting our Underground (UG) operation. Applicants will be considered for both opportunities unless they indicate a preferred area (Surface Fixed Plant or Underground) in their cover letter or resume.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver maintenance engineering activities as directed by the Senior Engineer – Mechanical.
Identify, monitor, and assist in mitigating mechanical reliability risks across site.
Conduct breakdown investigations and lead L2/L3 Root Cause Analysis to improve asset reliability and availability.
Develop and implement compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions and repair methodologies.
Support mechanical projects and shutdowns, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines.
Contribute to Asset Management Plans and review condition monitoring and shutdown reports.
Champion the Management of Change process, including technical reviews and drawing redlines.
Provide technical fault finding, failure analysis, and complete SAP notifications as required.
About You
Essential:
Accredited Mechanical Engineering degree recognised by Engineers Australia.
Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and legislation.
Previous experience in a mineral processing design and/or operational role.
Desirable:
Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certification.
Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
Experience with hoisting equipment and UG fixed plant assets

The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility.
