About the role
As a GIS Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the Inner West by delivering high-quality mapping, spatial analysis and visual insights that inform strategic planning projects. You'll maintain and enhance Council’s spatial data and cadastral mapping, produce engaging maps and infographics, and create clear visual content that supports decision-making, reporting and community consultation processes.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across the Strategic Planning Group and Council’s ICT branch, you’ll champion best-practice GIS solutions, strengthen spatial systems and data management, and provide expert advice that improves planning outcomes, community engagement and service delivery. Your ability to turn complex spatial information into accessible and meaningful visual stories will help Council make informed decisions for the community.

Remuneration
$88,187.84 - $108,723.16 + 12% Superannuation
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Degree qualifications in geography, cartography, GIS or related area or equivalent experience
- Experience in use of NSW LPI digital cadastral database (DCDB) and its relationship to Council in all areas of the GIS and Experience in the use of Land Information Systems
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently update the cadastral base map from registered plans received from Land and Property Information, including Deposited Plans, Strata Plans, Community Plans and Neighbourhood Plans
- Experience in use and development of Geographic Information Systems particularly in land use planning projects and the production of high-quality graphical representations, maps and diagrams to support project needs
- Highly developed written and oral skills
