About the role
Reporting to the Hospitality & Services Manager, the Laundry Champion is responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality processing of all resident personal clothing, bed linen, towels and facility textiles. You'll operate commercial laundry equipment, follow strict infection control protocols, and ensure every item is returned accurately and promptly to the right resident.
This is a hands-on, detail-focused role where your thoroughness, reliability and respect for residents' belongings directly supports their comfort and dignity every day.

Key responsibilities include:

Collect, sort and process all resident clothing, bed linen, towels and facility textiles to Rockpool's high standards

Operate commercial washing machines, dryers and finishing equipment safely and efficiently

Correctly segregate soiled and infected linen in line with infection control protocols — every time

Inspect laundered items for damage or staining and report issues promptly

Label, sort and return items accurately to the correct resident or facility area

Keep laundry equipment clean and operational, and report faults immediately

Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of laundry chemicals and consumables

Maintain accurate chemical usage records and follow all WH&S and SDS requirements
Skills and experience

Reliable, self-motivated and able to maintain consistent quality independently

Comfortable operating commercial laundry equipment (or willing to learn)

Strong attention to detail — in sorting, labelling and returning items correctly

Understanding of, or willingness to learn, infection control standards for soiled linen

Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures

Ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with residents and colleagues

Clear and respectful communication with residents, families and staff

Experience in aged care, healthcare or a commercial laundry environment highly regarded

No formal qualifications required (essential)

Certificate II or III in Laundry Operations, Cleaning Operations or Individual Support (desirable)

Bilingual language skills (highly regarded)
