Adio Desk PTY Ltd is seeking specialised NBN Infrastructure Carpenters to support the construction, installation, and maintenance of NBN broadband infrastructure across residential and small business sites. This role is ideal for an experienced carpenter with a strong background in infrastructure projects, particularly those involving trenching, cable support structures, and the unique requirements of telecommunications networks.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of NBN services to homes and businesses.
In addition, Adio Desk PTY Ltd is also recruiting Telecommunications Technicians to support the installation, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications networks and NBN infrastructure. Telecommunications Technicians will play a key role in ensuring reliable broadband connectivity through the accurate installation and commissioning of telecommunications equipment and cabling systems.
Key Responsibilities – Carpenters
- Build, modify, and install wooden and composite frameworks, cable trays, and equipment mounts to support NBN cabling and devices in residential and commercial settings.
- Perform precise trenching and site preparation for underground NBN cable installation, ensuring compliance with NBN standards and safety regulations.
- Employ advanced rope and rod methods for guiding, securing, and supporting cables and materials—especially in confined spaces, at heights, and where specialist rigging is required.
- Read and interpret NBN-specific blueprints, technical drawings, and site plans to ensure accurate construction and installation of cable pathways and infrastructure.
- Work closely with NBN cablers, technicians, and other trades to coordinate installation schedules, resolve site-specific challenges, and ensure seamless integration of carpentry work with telecommunications systems.
- Conduct routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of installed NBN support structures, addressing any issues to maintain network integrity and safety.
- Rigorously follow all NBN and industry health, safety, and environmental protocols, including the use of PPE, safe work practices, and documentation of safety checks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure worksite, ensuring all tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and accounted for at all times.
- Liaise with project managers, NBN representatives, and clients to provide updates, clarify requirements, and ensure customer satisfaction during residential installations.
Key Responsibilities – Telecommunications Technicians
- Install NBN and telecommunications equipment including fibre optic and copper cabling, network termination devices, and communication hardware at residential and small business sites.
- Perform cable hauling using rope and rod techniques through conduits, pits, and wall cavities while ensuring cable protection and correct routing.
- Test fibre optic and copper installations using appropriate diagnostic tools to ensure network performance meets required standards.
- Identify and rectify faults in telecommunications systems including damaged cables, connectors, and network devices.
- Assist with activation and commissioning of NBN services ensuring connectivity and service reliability.
- Interpret telecommunications drawings, network diagrams, and installation plans to complete installations accurately.
- Ensure all installations comply with NBN standards, telecommunications regulations, and workplace safety requirements.
- Follow safe work procedures including working at heights, confined spaces, and underground environments.
Skills & Qualifications
Carpenters
- Qualified Carpenter with proven experience in infrastructure or utilities projects
- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant carpentry experience highly regarded
- Experience working on NBN or similar telecommunications infrastructure projects highly regarded
- Demonstrated expertise in trenching, rope and rod work relevant to telecommunications or network cable installation
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, NBN plans, and construction documentation
- Strong understanding of construction and telecommunications safety standards
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites
Telecommunications Technicians
- Certificate III or IV in Telecommunications Technology, Telecommunications Network Engineering, or equivalent qualification preferred
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in telecommunications or NBN installations highly regarded
- Experience with fibre optic and copper cable installation and termination
- Demonstrated experience in cable hauling using rope and rod techniques and working with conduits and pits
- Experience in testing and commissioning telecommunications installations using appropriate testing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret telecommunications plans, network diagrams, and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of NBN installation standards and telecommunications industry regulations
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices including working at heights and confined spaces
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Physically capable of working in outdoor environments and physically demanding conditions
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites
Pay: $63,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
