About the Division
The Security and Emergency Management Division's purpose is to lead security and emergency management functions for the Department and lead and support educational communities to be physically and psychologically safe through the provision of expert advice and support services.
About the Unit
The Security Unit operates the department's 24/7 Incident Support and Operations Centre responding to alarm and CCTV activations in schools and actioning work orders for the installation and maintenance of the alarm system.
About the role – Fixed-term, Full-time
The purpose of the Security and Emergency Management Advisor role is to provide timely security and emergency management advice to support the design and operations of early learning centres operated by the department. In addition, the role will contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the Department's security and emergency management risk framework. This role will be required to engage with relevant stakeholders to identify expectations and concerns and mitigate risks to achieve appropriate outcomes.
The Division leads and coordinates the department's response during significant emergencies and critical incidents by establishing Incident Management Teams (IMTs). Staff in the Division are expected to be on a roster to participate in any IMTs that are stood up. Very occasionally, this may require work outside of normal business hours to support departmental and whole-of-government emergency management operations. The incumbent may be required to be available during critical incidents or periods of significant operational demand.
Key Duties

Generate / review marked up floor plans in line with existing security specifications

Provide support to onsite staff in relation to Alarm and Access Control systems

Conduct onsite quality assurance compliance to new security and electronic access infrastructure

Support facility level emergency management planning
Requirements

The position will involve regular travel within Victoria.

Essential: Current Working with Children Check

Essential: Victorian Driver's License

Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification and/or Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management or equivalent
