The Genetic Counsellor provides genetic information and counselling to clients and their families, organises appropriate genetic tests under supervision of a clinical geneticist / relevant medical officer and provides support to individuals and families to minimize the impact of a genetic diagnosis.
This position is within the Department of Clinical Genetics in the area of general and prenatal genetics.
Ideal Candidate
- Must hold a tertiary degree with a post graduate qualification in genetic counselling recognised for registration with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) Genetic Counselling Register.
- Has skills and knowledge in the provision of genetic counselling services and demonstrated experience in a clinical genetic unit.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and continuous improvement.
