About the opportunity
TAFE Gippsland is seeking experienced professionals to support the development of the residential care workforce through a flexible, online teaching and assessment role. This position is ideal for industry practitioners who are passionate about building capability within the sector and contributing to meaningful, work-based learning. Working with youth residential care workers across Victoria, you will facilitate engaging online sessions, assess competency in real workplace contexts and contribute to improved outcomes for young people in residential care. You will deliver and assess RESCARESS1: Residential Care Skill Set, which includes the following units of competency: CHCMHS007, CHCPRT034, CHCCCS009, and CHCPRT033.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver weekly live virtual sessions to working professionals (evening delivery – day of the week is flexible)
- Facilitate practical, applied learning using real-world scenarios
- Assess learners using a combination of knowledge tasks, workplace evidence and third-party supervisor reports
- Work with employers and supervisors to support workplace-based learning and evidence collection
- Make evidence-based competency decisions aligned to national standards
- Provide constructive feedback that supports learner progression and success
This is a delivery-focused role using pre-developed curriculum, allowing you to focus on what matters most—quality teaching, meaningful assessment, and learner success.
The program is delivered over a structured 16-week period with rolling intakes. Its design provides the flexibility to scale across multiple cohorts, supporting broader participation and program growth. Importantly, the work undertaken through the program directly contributes to improving outcomes for young people in residential care.
