Competitive Salary: Band 6 - $101,833.74 to $111,108.57 p.a. (depending on experience) + 12% superannuation

About the Role:
We're seeking a detail-focused FOI specialist with solid experience to join a pretty amazing Governance and Risk Department to co-ordinate and administer freedom and information applications in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for FOI matters, guiding internal staff, engaging with applicants and ensuring accurate, timely and fair processing of requests.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing the end to end processing of FOI applications
- Providing clear advice to staff and stakeholders on FOI requirements and statutory obligations
- Preparing statistical information and reporting for OVIC and Council annual reporting obligations
- Coordinating responses to OVIC reviews and VCAT matters relating to FOI decisions
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- Proven experience in administering FOI matters in local government or the public sector
- Ability to interpret legislation and apply FOI statutory requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Confident working with stakeholders across the organisation and handling sensitive or confidential information
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise competing FOI requests
Mandatory pre-employment requirements:
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
