Where you'll be working
Maitland HITH is based at Maitland Hospital and sees patients who are on the virtual HITH ward and patients recently discharged from hospital. It is a small, allied health team that covers the geographical areas of Maitland, Kurri Kurri and parts of Cessnock.
The Opportunity
The Maitland HITH Occupational Therapist will work along the other occupational therapist on the team to provide wholistic, rapid response care based in the community. They will be skilled in assessments, equipment prescription, home modifications and will help the patient navigate options for longer term support. The Maitland HITH OT will be line managed by the Allied Health Service Manager for HITH and be supported professionally by the Integrated Care Occupational Therapy Head of Discipline. The OT will have links to the Greater Newcastle HITH team and be supported operationally by the HITH Nurse Unit Manager.
About you
The Maitland HITH Occupational Therapist will have great, well rounded clinical skills. They will have the ability to manage their time and prioritise. They will be flexible and adaptable and work with the multidisciplinary team. They will be committed to evidence-based care and have an interest in building a solid model of care. The position requires effective clinical decision-making, caseload management, and accurate documentation. The role reports to the Occupational Therapy Team Leader or Allied Health Manager and may provide support or supervision to students as required. Support will be provided via Allied Health Service Manager and Occupational Therapy Head of Discipline
