About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our busy workshop in Fyshwick. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of motor vehicles to a high professional standard. This is a full- time position suitable for an experienced mechanic who can work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced automotive service environment. Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing petrol and diesel motor vehicles.
- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
- Performing scheduled vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, tyre checks, suspension checks, and general servicing.
- Repairing and replacing worn or defective parts, components, and systems.
- Testing and adjusting mechanical systems after repairs to ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation.
- Preparing accurate service records, job cards, and reports on work performed.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workplace procedures, and relevant safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Communicating professionally with supervisors, team members, and customers where required.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic or equivalent automotive mechanical qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time work experience as a Motor Mechanic or in a closely related automotive mechanical role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical systems, including engines, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions, and electrical components.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, and hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work full-time hours, including Monday to Saturday rostered work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Applicants must have the skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the duties of the role safely and effectively.
- Current driver licence preferred.
