About the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH):
The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is part of the Parkville Precinct and is one of Australia’s leading public hospitals. We provide a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, mental health, rehabilitation, aged care, specialist clinic and community services.
Our Security team plays an essential role in supporting a safe and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, staff and the wider community.
About the Role:
As a Security Officer, you will support the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors, facilities and assets across RMH sites. Working as part of the RMH Security and Safety team, you will deliver a high-quality security service within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Maintain a highly visible security presence across assigned areas to promote safety and proactively address security concerns.
Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, emergencies and requests for assistance.
Conduct regular patrols, monitor security systems and identify potential risks.
Support effective crowd management during busy periods and challenging situations.
Provide excellent customer service and assist patients, visitors and staff in a professional and respectful manner.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across RMH to support a safe and secure healthcare environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements
Minimum 12 months’ experience working in a healthcare security environment, with a Certificate II in Security Operations and a current Victorian Private Security Individual Licence.
Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict calmly and professionally, with sound judgement and initiative in challenging situations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Flexibility to work across all shift patterns, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays across Parkville and Royal Park sites.
Current Police Check and Employee Working with Children Check, with demonstrated alignment to The Melbourne Way – putting people first, leading with kindness and achieving excellence together.
Desirable
Previous control room operator experience.
