About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to a client based in Westmead, NSW. This subcontractor role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting individuals with mental health challenges and promoting independence, wellbeing, and community participation.
The successful candidate will provide person-centred support while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and strong boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualised support to a client living with mental health conditions
- Assist with daily living tasks and routine activities
- Offer emotional support and encourage positive coping strategies
- Support community access, appointments, and social engagement
- Monitor and report changes in the client’s wellbeing or behaviour
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation
- Follow care plans and safe work practices at all times
- Build a respectful and trusting relationship with the participant
Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV in Mental Health (mandatory)
- Previous experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- National Police Check
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
- ABN and relevant insurances for subcontracting
- Working rights in Australia
Desirable
- Experience with psychosocial recovery support
- Knowledge of behavioural support
- NDIS experience preferred
