About the role:
As the Finance Officer in the Program Level Reporting team, you will support assessment of the impacts of year‑on‑year government decisions, analysis of variances, and contribute to the development of advice and analytics at the program reporting level.
Reporting to the Manager Program Level Reporting, you will analyse, monitor and develop authoritative advice on the department's existing base funding and revenue flows including Commonwealth funding and other revenue sources.
The team produces regular reports to internal and external stakeholders to track key outcomes and performance. Analysing data from various sources to identify trends and to track financial performance, recommending opportunities to improve resource allocation. You will work closely with other branches in Budget, Finance and Investment division, including the CFO branch, as well as engaging with other divisions, most closely with Hospitals Victoria. Pulling together data and intelligence from these areas to support reporting and advice, equally contributing to the deliverables of these connected teams to enable consistent and comprehensive advice and options to be presented to decision makers.

Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level

Authoritative in application of processes

Develops and implements operational communication and consultation strategies on specific projects

Undertakes technical data analysis and modelling and prepares reports
Qualifications/Specialist Expertise:

A tertiary qualification in finance or accounting or similar field.

An understanding of the Financial Management Act and Resource Management Framework would be an advantage.
