Eating House Rowville is seeking a capable and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our established kitchen leadership team.
Operating since 2004, Eating House is a busy, modern restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef ready to step into a leadership position and develop under our Head Chef.
The role
You will support the Head Chef and senior kitchen team with:
- Leading kitchen service and maintaining smooth daily operations
- Supervising, supporting and training kitchen staff
- Maintaining consistent food quality, presentation and portion control
- Assisting with preparation, ordering, stock rotation and waste control
- Monitoring food safety, cleanliness and kitchen procedures
- Helping manage wage efficiency and staff deployment
- Taking responsibility for the kitchen when senior leaders are unavailable
- Contributing ideas for specials and menu development
About you
- Full Australian working rights
- Previous experience as a senior chef, Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef
- Strong cooking skills and confidence working in a busy service environment
- Reliable, organised and calm under pressure
- Able to lead by example and communicate effectively
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen cleanliness
- Committed to consistency, teamwork and high standards
- Available across a flexible seven-day roster, including weekends
