Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Agricultural Technician to support the daily operations of our commercial layer hen facility. Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will oversee advanced poultry production technologies, ensure optimal flock welfare, and enforce biosecurity protocols.
- Flock Performance Monitoring: Routinely monitor poultry production systems, tracking vital metrics such as feed/water consumption, temperature, humidity, and lighting to ensure ideal environmental conditions.
- Data Management: Record and maintain detailed production data, operational metrics, and flock performance reports using farm management software and digital sensors.
- Production & Equipment Support: Oversee the operation of automated egg grading, collection, and packaging equipment, ensuring regular calibration and minimal product damage.
- Livestock Observation: Conduct daily physical inspections of the flock, identifying abnormalities, disease symptoms, or welfare concerns, and report findings to the Farm Manager.
- Biosecurity & Compliance: Implement and enforce strict biosecurity measures, hygiene standards, and operational procedures to prevent the spread of disease.
- Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): Ensure all daily husbandry, grading, and machinery operation activities adhere to Australian animal welfare and workplace safety standards
Required Skills & Technical Competencies
- Poultry Husbandry: Proven understanding of layer hen behaviour and ability to monitor hens health and wellbeing.
- Technical Agribusiness Literacy: Experience configuring and operating automated egg processing machinery and automated environmental control panels
- Biosecurity Enforcement: Demonstrated knowledge of farm hygiene and biosecurity regulations

Pay: $79,500.00 – $82,000.00 per year
