We’re looking for a CPA or CA qualified Senior Accountant with strong financial accounting and tax experience to join our Finance team and play a key role in CFC Australia’s financial accounting, tax and reporting activities.
About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced and highly capable Senior Accountant, Financial Accounting & Tax to join our Finance team in Melbourne.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of CFC Australia’s financial reporting, accounting processes and tax obligations.
You will lead key financial accounting activities, support month-end and year-end processes, manage tax and regulatory lodgements, and provide meaningful reporting and insights to support informed business decision-making.

Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, financial regulatory requirements and supporting insurance regulatory requirements.
- Leading the month-end close process, including preparation of month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Managing intercompany balances across the business.
- Preparing journals and reconciliations for leave entitlements across all entities.
- Managing the day-to-day accounting requirements for CFC Claims Pty Ltd and CFC Holdings Pty Ltd.
- Contributing to EOFY close processes and coordinating with external auditors.
- Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements and working closely with Group to finalise reporting requirements.
- Preparing and lodging BAS and IAS across all Australian entities.
- Preparing information for FBT and income tax return requirements, including liaising with Group and Deloitte for review and lodgement.
- Solving technical accounting issues and supporting sound accounting outcomes.
- Supporting ongoing improvements across accounting and administrative functions.

CPA or CA Qualified.
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in a financial accounting role.
- Well-developed knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of tax requirements, with the ability to guide and support the team on tax-related matters.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Experience using NetSuite (desirable).
- Experience in financial services or insurance (desirable).
