We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join City of Ryde Libraries as the Branch Support and Weekend Supervisor. This part time position will work at Gladesville and North Ryde Libraries.
The purpose of this role is to deliver a consistent and responsive library service that meets the community’s needs and to provide leadership and operational management to the weekend team at North Ryde Library. As a supervisory member of the library service, you will play an important role in the development and delivery of service improvements and to the achievements of the Library strategic plan.

We are seeking a motivated professional with strong operational leadership skills, a collaborative, inclusive approach and a passion for innovative community engagement that will contribute to the ongoing vision for the North Ryde and Gladesville branch libraries
This position is 21 hours per week and involves weekly rostered evening and weekend shifts. It covers a range of hours as follows:
Your commencing salary is negotiable between $78,763.01 and $ 86,089.81 pro rata plus Superannuation depending on your experience and qualifications with opportunities for annual salary progression based on your performance.
Your focus will be:
- Providing professional and responsive customer and information services including readers advisory, promotion of library service and programs and the development and maintenance of community relationships.
- Providing leadership to the North Ryde Library team on Saturdays and to the Gladesville Library team as required.
- Conducting early literacy programs and supporting specialist children’s programs in our newly refurbished spaces
- Liaising with Team Leaders and staff from other library sections to ensure consistency of service quality and assist the development of library-wide innovations.
Essential criteria:
- completion of Diploma or higher in Library and Information Services with significant work experience in a library.
- current Working with Children check
- Class C Drivers Licence
- experience in the delivery of a high level public library and information service in a cross cultural customer service environment.
- proven supervisory experience in a public library or similar customer focussed environment.
- proven experience in operational administration such as producing rosters.
- high level communication and interpersonal skills including problem solving, negotiation and effective complaints handling skills and experience.
- experience in process improvement and leading/implementing change.
- understanding of current issues and trends in the library industry.
- knowledge of EEO principles, Privacy and Information Act.
