About the Role
The Senior Support Worker coaches staff to support participants to live their lives in the way they choose. The role focuses on mentoring staff to supporting individuals to be independent, feel safe and valued, and be involved in their community, while respecting their personal goals, choices and identity.
Key Responsibilities
- Support participants to set goals and work towards their life aspirations, building their confidence and independence.
- Contribute to the development of plans and programs alongside participants, ensuring it matches their needs, strengths and choices.
- Lead by example, demonstrating person centred active support, implementing person centred plans and developmental programs to achieve participant goals
- Exercise initiative in the application of procedures and establish goals and objectives to achieve outcomes for programs and projects
What We Are Looking For
- Experience supporting individuals and understanding how to tailor support to each person’s goals and strengths.
- Work in a fair, respectful way and understand workplace responsibilities.
- Experience in disability or community services and a genuine interest in helping people live the life they choose.
- Works well with others, supports teammates and leads by example.
- Can work flexible hours, including a 24/7 roster to meet participants’ needs.
- Willing to work across different services and support people in a range of settings.
- Can manage different tasks, make decisions, and respond to changing situations.
What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role
- NDIS Worker Screening
- Working with Children Check
- A current Driver’s License
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or similar qualification (we also welcome applicants without qualifications)
Schedule & Shifts
This role will be a Part Time role on a rotating roster with a combination of both active and passive overnight shifts. Shifts can include but not limited too;
- AM - 0800-1400
- PM - 1500-2300
- Overnight -2300-0700
