- Own and shape Connekt's hydraulic design capability
- Lead design innovation across commercial construction projects
- Senior opportunity with genuine influence and growth potential
Hydraulic Design Lead Adelaide | Full-time | Commercial Construction
IM Partners is recruiting on behalf of Connekt Plumbing for an experienced Hydraulic Design Lead to take ownership of the business’s hydraulic design capability.
This is a rare opportunity for someone who understands both hydraulic design and the practical realities of construction. You may already be leading a design function, or you may be an experienced hydraulic designer, senior drafter or technically strong plumbing professional ready to step into a broader leadership position.
The successful applicant will work closely with Connekt’s Construction Manager, Project Managers and site teams to coordinate design outcomes, resolve technical issues and improve the way hydraulic projects are designed and delivered.
The opportunity
You will take the lead across hydraulic design and drafting for commercial and industrial projects, including:
- Hydraulic services design, drafting and project coordination
- Shop drawings, site set-outs and as-built documentation
- Resolving design queries with project and site teams
- Coordinating documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensuring designs comply with applicable Australian codes and standards
- Improving design, drafting and document-control processes
- Identifying and implementing new technology, software and automation
- Supporting the preparation of O&M manuals, room data manuals, ITPs and other project documentation
- Mentoring drafting personnel and helping build Connekt’s internal design capability
This is not simply a drafting role. You will have the opportunity to shape systems, introduce better ways of working and help develop a high-performing internal design team.
About you
We are interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Practical experience in hydraulic design, drafting, plumbing or design coordination
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction and hydraulic services
- The ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical requirements
- Experience using CAD, Revit, 3D modelling or comparable design software
- An understanding of relevant Australian codes and standards
- Strong coordination, problem-solving and communication skills
- The ability to work effectively with Project Managers, site teams, consultants and clients
- An interest in technology, process improvement and developing design capability
You may have several years of hydraulic design experience, or you may have developed equivalent capability through a combination of design, drafting, project coordination and practical construction experience.
Relevant qualifications may include:
- Certificate IV in Design Engineering or a comparable design or technical qualification
- Certificate III in Plumbing or equivalent on-job experience
- A current driver’s licence
Candidates who do not meet every listed criterion but have strong hydraulic, construction or technical design capability are encouraged to apply.
Why consider Connekt?
This is an opportunity to join an established commercial plumbing contractor that is investing in its technical capability, systems and future growth.
You will have genuine influence over how the design function operates, the technology it uses and how the internal team develops. The role will suit someone who wants more than a production drafting position and is ready to take ownership of design outcomes across the business.
A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated based on the successful applicant’s experience and capability.
