About the Role
At De Lokal, the barista / cafe-allrounder plays a key role in creating a welcoming experience for every customer. This is a fast paced, hands on position where no two days are the same. You'll be responsible for crafting delicious high quality coffee, preparing food, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the cafe runs smoothly with the day to day operations. As we are a 'hole in the wall' cafe we pride ourselves on speed, quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and serving high-quality coffee using dialled-in espresso and milk texturing techniques
- Maintaining consistency in all beverages during busy service periods
- Providing friendly, efficient, and professional customer service
- Managing workflow during peak hours while maintaining attention to detail
- Maintaining cleanliness of the coffee station, equipment, and service areas
- Performing opening and/or closing duties, including cleaning, restocking, and end-of-day procedures
- Ability to adapt to our procedures and standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience as a barista working in a busy cafe environment
- Ability to serve exceptional espresso based beverages, including knowledge of dialing in the grinders
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Confidence in completing closing duties and maintaining high cleanliness standards
- Flexible availability including weekdays, afternoons and weekends. (operating hours 5.30am - 5.15pm)

Pay: $24.95 – $35.00 per hour
