About the Team:
The University Library is part of the Tertiary Education Portfolio, which has overall responsibility for VU’s University and TAFE programs. Scholarly Information Services Librarians are embedded within Colleges, working closely with academic and research staff to deliver targeted library services.
The Library team engages with a broad range of colleagues across the Tertiary Education, Research and Impact portfolio, and maintains active connections with sector bodies including CAVAL and ALIA.
About the Role:
The Scholarly Information Services Librarian role delivers high quality and strategically aligned library and information services to support the successful learning, teaching, and research outcomes of the University. You will also have the capability to provide expert advice, training, and support to researchers on effective scholarly communication.
This is a full-time continuing position at HEP Level 6, working 36.75 hours per week, based at Footscray Park Campus (hybrid model available).

Salary: $91,796 per annum – $99,361 per annum + 17% superannuation

About You:
This role suits an enthusiastic library professional who is passionate about supporting learning and research. You bring well-developed communication skills, a collaborative and adaptive mindset, and the ability to design and deliver engaging programs that build information literacy.
What You'll Bring:
Relevant degree or equivalent experience in library and information services, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated understanding of contemporary pedagogical approaches, with experience designing and delivering training programs both on-site and online.
Proven experience providing high-quality library services to academic and research staff, with highly developed client management and interpersonal skills.
Experience with library management systems, learning management platforms, and specialist information resources databases, including proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
Strong knowledge of library resource management, information retrieval systems and research data management principles.
Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues proactively and refer complex matters to management where appropriate.
Understanding of a dual-sector university environment and the ability to apply relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements, including health and safety obligations.
