About The Role
Due to continued success and a strong pipeline of exciting projects, we have an excellent opportunity for a WHSEQ and Compliance Advisor to join our team in our Brisbane or Sydney office, who thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment. You will provide guidance, both internally and externally to support our clients and our people safely to reach their goals.
In this role, you will report to the WHSEQ Manager Australia and be responsible for efficiently and effectively coordinating incident response and investigations, injury management, with the ability to conduct research, coordinate audits, data and trend analysis, together with associated reporting, leading to informed and successful decision-making.
With this solutions-based role you could be working on multiple projects with individual business units at the same time, so processing information in a clear and concise way is essential. You should be an autonomous and confident people person who will take the lead on tasks/projects liaising with staff and management for solutions. Key responsibilities:
- Communications and Consultation: Ensure effective, practical and regular communications across all business units to ensure adherence to WHS processes and procedures. Liaise appropriately with all areas of the business, providing clear guidance with a solutions focus mentality.
- ISO Certification: Take lead in annual external ISO certification process across APEM Australia, ensuring recertification and business compliance.
- Work Health & Safety: Manage advice, guidance and solutions across all business units to required timelines. Take lead in annual reduction of incident/injury rate and ensure return to work processes of injured employees are adhered to.
- Compliance: Ensure regulatory and business compliance standards are maintained through active review cycles of all documentation and maintenance of all document and evidence chains.
- ESG & Carbon Data Capture: Take lead in environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts which applies to the business, customers, suppliers, employees and the general public. Ensure a program addressing climate change, biodiversity, carbon emissions, waste management and improved resource efficiency is implemented in reducing the company’s carbon footprint, together with improvements for social impact, diversity and inclusivity.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (minimum Diploma level)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a HSE role within an environmental and/or construction environment
- Experience in implementing and maintaining best practice HSE programs within a large, complex organisation, is ideal
- Strong understanding of Australian WHS and environmental legislation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and Sharepoint
- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Experience in managing stakeholders (internal and external)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach to tasks and challenges
- The ability to travel interstate on occasions, is essential for this role
