We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in tank construction, tank maintenance, shutdowns, structural steel, and heavy industrial projects. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully delivered above-ground storage tank (AST) projects in refinery, fuel terminal, mining, or petrochemical environments.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall delivery of multiple tank construction and maintenance projects, ensuring all works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
This position requires a hands-on leader capable of managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, client relationships, procurement, scheduling, quality assurance, and financial performance across FIFO project sites.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the complete lifecycle of tank construction, repair, maintenance, and shutdown projects.

Deliver projects in accordance with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations.

Lead project planning, mobilisation, execution, commissioning, and project close-out activities.

Coordinate site supervisors, engineers, QA/QC personnel, HSE teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, progress claims, and financial reporting.

Develop construction methodologies, project execution plans, and resource schedules.

Monitor project productivity and implement corrective actions where required.

Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.

Ensure compliance with Australian & International Standards, client specifications, and company procedures.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Maintain strong relationships with clients and participate in project meetings and reporting.

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all WHS legislation and company HSEQ systems.

Mentor and develop project personnel while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Experience
-
Above-ground storage tank (AST) construction and maintenance.
-
API 650 and API 653 tank standards (highly regarded).
-
Mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, fuel terminal, or heavy industrial projects.
-
Brownfield and greenfield construction environments.
-
Major shutdown and maintenance projects.
-
Structural steel, piping, mechanical installation, and heavy lifting operations.
-
Managing projects valued from $1M to $50M+.

Contract administration and commercial management.
-
Client-facing project delivery.
-
FIFO project management.
Essential Qualifications
-
Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering or Construction Management
-
Relevant trade qualification with extensive Project Management experience.

Current White Card.

Strong understanding of WHS legislation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling software, High-level Microsoft Office skills.
