We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Painter Blaster to prepare and coat surfaces using abrasive blasting and industrial painting techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for surface preparation, paint application, equipment operation, and ensuring high-quality finishes while following workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform abrasive blasting operations to remove rust, corrosion, old coatings, and contaminants from metal and other surfaces.
- Prepare surfaces to required standards before painting or coating application.
- Operate and maintain blasting equipment, spray painting equipment, compressors, and related tools.
- Apply industrial coatings, paints, primers, and protective finishes using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
- Mix and apply coatings according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with specifications.
- Identify surface defects and perform touch-ups or corrective work as required.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Complete job documentation, including coating records and inspection reports where required.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience as a Painter Blaster or in industrial surface preparation and painting.
- Knowledge of abrasive blasting techniques and industrial coating systems.
- Experience using blasting pots, spray equipment, and painting tools.
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications, drawings, and coating requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments, including confined spaces or heights where required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Relevant trade qualification or industry experience preferred.
- Abrasive blasting and industrial painting certifications (where applicable).
- Current safety tickets/licences as required by the workplace.
- Ability to pass medical, drug and alcohol screening if required.
Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour
